The Hand Institute
The Hand Institute provides the comprehensive care needed to help hands regain their wondrous capabilities. Care includes both surgery and therapy, and treatment extends to the wrists, elbows and shoulders.
The Hand Institute is the most advanced hand care center in northern Indiana, and the only two orthopedic fellowship-trained hand surgeons in Elkhart county are on our team. These surgeons have completed an additional year of training focusing solely on hand surgery.
Specific hand conditions treated surgically and non-surgically include:
- Fingertip (industrial) injuries
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Nerve laceration
- Post-traumatic reconstruction
- Sports-related hand injuries
- Traumatic amputations
- Trigger Finger (Stenosing Tenosynovitis)
- Arthritis
- Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
- Ganglion Cycts
- Infections and animal bites
- Compartment Syndrome
- Gamekeeper’s (Skiier’s) Thumb
Any conditions affecting the hand, wrist and elbow are a result of trauma, work-related injury, or overuse. Many of these patients are treated effectively with hand therapy rehabilitation offered through our Hand Therapy department.
